Items like mattresses, box springs, and e-waste are handled differently than regular trash by Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) at the Johnston Landfill and therefore require distinct collection processes. Furniture or any other household items will not be accepted. They will also accept one (1) Television per household & old electronic devices known as e-waste at the parking lot across from City Hall on Roosevelt Avenue between the hours of 8:00 a.m. On the first Saturday of each month, residents will be able to drop off two (2) sets of mattresses or box springs, or four (4) pieces total will be accepted with proof of residency. The fee for this service provided by TSR will be $55 per unit. Residents can schedule a pickup appointment following TSR online scheduling system. The City of Pittsfield is partnering with Tough Stuff Recycling (TSR) to offer a curbside pickup service.
